Grades
Your grade is based on an average of the following criteria:
1. Positive and consistent participation during all rehearsals!
2. Written and oral examinations.
3. Performance examinations. An ensemble will sing all or a portion of a rehearsed song. Considered in the grade are accurate rhythm, pitch, diction, phrasing, dynamics, and expression. THis test will be announced in advance so the students will be able to prepare.
4. Extra Rehearsals. These maybe called in preparation for a concert. They will occur only out of necessity and will be kept to a minimum. Extra rehearsals will be announced well in advance so that plans cal be made to attend. If they are called, these rehearsals are very important and your decision to attend or not will not affect your grade.
5. Concerts. All concerts will be announced well in advance and are mandatory. Great importance will be given to concerts in grading: 40% of total nine weeks points.. Students will be allowed to perform at the directors discretion.
6. Personal Involvement. This area of your grade includes daily work habits, cooperation and attitude. You can recieve up to five points daily.
7. Extra Credit. Extra points will be given for attendance of or involvement in community conerts. A program with your name on it should be turned in WITHIN A WEEK after the concert to rceive your points (ten for participation or five for observation/attendance).
8. Tardies and Absences. Tardies will result in the deduction of 2 points from your daily participation points Illness and School related absences will result in the loss of any points available for that class period. This is an auditioned ensemble and with privilege comes responsibility -- unexcused absences will not be tolerated.
